Grafton Merchanting trading as PDM are a dedicated civils & utilities merchant with technical & knowledgeable staff located at all of our dedicated 9 branches in Scotland. Our branches stock an extensive range of civil materials for collection or delivery.

Our fully trained and qualified drivers carry out a range of deliveries, from crane offloading to pallet deliveries and our fleet is large and diverse enough to cater for your needs. We have developed strong relationships with all the key manufacturers within the industry which include Emtelle , Polypipe and Naylor.

We have supplied an extensive range of utility and civil materials to various wind farms and hydro scheme projects over the past few years including a job in Alladale Hydro, Ardgay,Sutherland.

This is an example of a Hydro Scheme which presented access and restrictions for the supply of products.

PDM were involved at an early stage with meeting the Project Team and discussing proposed materials for the scheme. At this stage we enlisted the assistance of our preferred manufacturer of ductile iron pipework to contribute some value added engineering to the job. Working together we redesigned the pipework layout and then supplied the full pipeline requirements which included 500m x en598 ductile iron in addition all the intake structure materials. There was no laydown area suitable for artic vehicles therefore we arranged an alternative offload point where the artic vehicles from France (on timed delivery) met with rigid wheelers and transhipped their loads to stage 2 where a helicopter finally assisted with the delivery of the materials.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers and communities has been our priority since the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. We have closely followed the advice of our Government and have implemented appropriate actions to help prevent the spread of the virus in our branches.

Following last night's announcement from the Prime Minister we believe the responsible approach is to suspend trading for the next three weeks in all our branches. With immediate effect all PDM Buildbase, Hirebase and Electricbase branches will be closed for deliveries, collections and online orders. Subject to receiving clarification from Government, we aim to continue with the supply of materials through a small number of branches to support essential repair and maintenance activity.

The situation is unpredictable and these measures have not been taken lightly. We apologise for the inconvenience caused during this period, but we will take all measures we can to support the Government in their efforts to control the spread of this virus.

We will keep you updated on further developments and will announce when branches are ready to reopen.

Due to the above, we would much prefer for all payments to be made either electronically or via the telephone.

To this end and to assist with payments we have the following options;

  • Our credit teams are available to take your calls from 7.30am until 5.00 pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12 noon on a Saturday.
  • We will be waiving all credit / business card payment fees until the end of April, so why not give us a ring and pay your account securely by card.
  • Our credit office telephone number is 0141 892 8960
  • Our bank details for electronic transfers are located on our payment 'remittance advice' area of your statement
  • Rather than post us your remittance advice we would prefer these to be emailed to us at [email protected]

Thanks for your understanding. Stay safe
